Day 1: ARRIVAL IN DAKAR

Welcome on arrival by our team and transfer to the Novotel Dakar hotel.

DAY 2: DAKAR - GOREE - LAC ROSE (Approximately 25 min by ferry / 40 km / 45 min journey)

Crossing to the island of Gorée, this natural fort was, for five centuries, a hotly contested stopover by Europeans and the main slave trading post for the Americas. Visit the curiosities of the island: the Castel and its panoramic view, the slave house built in 1776, the Saint Charles church and the picturesque and colorful streets. Lunch at the island restaurant. " Road to Lake Rose. Discovery of the site which owes its fame to its purple hue depending on the intensity of the sun's rays. Visit of the lake, a Peulh village and the salt collectors who border the lake. Possibility of swimming in the salt lake Dinner and night at Pink Lake Camp.

DAY 3: LAC ROSE - SAINT LOUIS (Approximately 240km / 04h)
Road to Saint-Louis. Arrival in St Louis, typical lunch at the “Galaxie” restaurant. In the afternoon, carriage tour of the old colonial town, a UNESCO world heritage site: the Faidherbe Bridge, the residences of notables with their old-fashioned charm, the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Aeropostale Museum and the fishing district of Guet Ndar with multicolored canoes. Dinner and overnight in Saint-Louis at the La Poste hotel.

DAY 4: SAINT LOUIS - DJOUDJ NATIONAL PARK - SAINT LOUIS (Approx. 120 km / 2h)
Early departure from Loumpoul for a visit to the Djoudj ornithological park. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the first water point after crossing the Sahara for migratory birds: cormorants, pelicans, whistling ducks, fishing eagles... but also crocodiles, monitor lizards, warthogs and jackals are present. Around 350 species are referenced there. Canoe tour through the backwaters. Lunch at the park restaurant. Return to Saint Louis at the end of the afternoon.
Dinner and night at the La Poste hotel.

DAY 5: SAINT LOUIS - TOUBA - DELTA DU SALOUM (Approximately 370km / 06h)
Departure after breakfast towards the Delta du Sine and Saloum. Stop in Touba, stronghold of one of the most influential Muslim brotherhoods in Senegal, “The Mourides”. Visit to the Touba mosque. Picnic lunch en route or at the Relais de Kaolack then continuation towards the Saloum delta. Dinner and night at the Hôtel des Palétuviers. 

DAY 6: DELOU DU SALOUM - JUFFUREH - JAMES ISLAND - BANJUL (Approximately 1h30 ferry and 105km / 1h40)
Early departure for the village of Juffureh and James Island.


The small village of Juffureh owes its fame to the best-seller "Racine" written by Alex Alley, a descendant of Kunta Kinte. Picnic lunch. Continue to Banjul crossing the Gambia River by ferry.


Installation, dinner and overnight at the Ocean Bay hotel in Banjul.

DAY 7: BANJUL - MAKASUTU RESERVE - BANJUL (Approximately 70km / 01h)
Departure for a visit to the Makasutu reserve: palm grove located between the meanders of the Gambia River, bringing together several ecosystems (dense forest, mangrove, savannah) and sheltering numerous animal species.


Canoe trip accompanied by a guide.


Lunch in the park then return to Banjul for a city tour of the city. Dinner and overnight at the Ocean Bay Hotel.

DAY 8: BANJUL – DAKAR (Approximately 1h30 ferry / 305km / 5h30)
We will take the direction of return towards Dakar. Stop for lunch at the Relais de Kaolack then continue towards Dakar. Arrival late afternoon and transfer to the airport for return.

Recommended pick-up at 9:00 a.m. for estimated return at 5:30 p.m.
Museums closed on Monday.

Djoudj park is closed from the end of May to the beginning of October. The excursion can be replaced by an excursion to the Guembeul reserve.
