Saint Louis - Djoudj Park

DAY 1: DAKAR - SAINT-LOUIS (Approximately 270km / 04h30)

On the way to Saint-Louis, historic city, former capital of French West Africa. Lunch at Le Flamingo restaurant which has a breathtaking view of the famous Pont Faidherbe.

In the afternoon, visit the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ride in traditional horse-drawn carriages and discover the preserved monuments of the colonial town: the Faidherbe Bridge, the colonial houses, the Town Hall, the Saint Cathedral -Louis, the airmail views of the Museum and the fishermen's quarter of Guet Ndar.

Installation, dinner and night at the La Poste hotel.

DAY 2: SAINT LOUIS - PARC DU DJOUDJ - DAKAR (Approximately 370 km / 5:30 a.m.)

In the morning, visit the Djoudj ornithological park. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the first water point after crossing the Sahara for migratory birds: cormorants, pelicans, whistling ducks, fishing eagles... but also crocodiles, monitor lizards, warthogs and jackals are present.

 

Around 350 species are referenced there. Canoe tour through the backwaters. Lunch at the park restaurant and return to Dakar at the end of the afternoon.

The Djoudj park is closed from the end of May to the beginning of October. The excursion can be replaced by another in the Guembeul reserve.
