
Pink lake - Saint-Louis - Djoudj Park - Saloum Delta
DAY 1: DAKAR- ROSE LAKE – SAINT LOUIS (About 280km/05h)
Departure from Dakar in the morning to reach Lac Rose.
Tour of the lake, visit to a Fulani village, visit to the salt collectors.
Unmissable swimming in the salt lake and an unforgettable sensation. Above all, don't forget to rinse off at the fresh water source! Lunch at the restaurant of the Trarza hotel then drive to Saint Louis, the former capital of French West Africa. Installation, dinner and night at the hotel La Poste.
DAY 2: SAINT LOUIS – DJOUDJ ORNITHOLOGICAL PARK – SAINT LOUIS (About 120km/02h)
In the morning, visit the ornithological park of Djoudj. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the first water point after crossing the Sahara for migratory birds: cormorants, pelicans, whistling ducks, fish eagles... but also crocodiles, monitor lizards, warthogs and jackals are present there. About 350 species are referenced there. Canoe tour of the Park through the backwaters. Lunch at the park restaurant and return to Saint Louis. In the afternoon, visit by horse-drawn carriage of the old colonial city: the Pont Faidherbe, the homes of notables with their old-fashioned charm, the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Airmail Museum and the fishing district of Guet Ndar with multicolored canoes. Dinner and night at the hotel La Poste.
DAY 3: SAINT LOUIS – TOUBA – SINE SALOUM (About 420km/08h)
Departure from Saint Louis towards the holy city of Touba, home to one of the most important Muslim brotherhoods in the country. Visit of the great mosque of Touba and continuation through the Ferlo to Kaolack. Lunch at the Kaolack relay.
Road towards the Sine Saloum Delta and more precisely to Simal.
Ride on horseback or on foot in the surroundings of Simal to discover the culture of the Serer ethnic group or relax on the edge of one of the banks of the Sine Saloum Delta to enjoy the magnificent sunset.
Dinner and night in the huts of the Ecolodge of Simal.
DAY 4: SINE SALOUM – DAKAR (About 140km/02h30)
In the morning
Canoe trip in the bolongs to observe the birds or introduction to traditional fishing: handline or cast net fishing.
After lunch in Simal, drive to Joal, birthplace of the former President of the Republic of Senegal Léopold Sédar.Senghor. Visit the island of Fadiouth by canoe or on foot, its shell cemetery where Christian and Muslim burials mingle; the millet granaries perched on stilts are also one of the curiosities of the island. Return to Dakar or Saly at the end of the afternoon.
